Scripture ~
“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters… her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7–8
Devotional~
In a world where everything seems to shift so quickly, there is a quiet strength found in staying planted.
There will be seasons when life feels full and refreshing, like the rain has fallen exactly when you needed it. But there will also be seasons that feel dry, where answers seem delayed and progress feels slower than you hoped.
It’s in those moments that the temptation comes to uproot ourselves, to question where we’re planted, to doubt the process, or to wonder if we should run toward something easier.
But scripture reminds us that the strength of a tree is not found in how quickly it grows. It’s found in where it is rooted.
When your trust is in the Lord, your roots run deeper than the drought around you. Even when the season feels dry on the surface, God is still sustaining you beneath it. The nourishment you need is still flowing.
Sometimes growth is happening in places we cannot see.
Staying planted does not mean life will always feel easy, but it does mean you can remain steady even when circumstances shift. Your peace doesn’t have to rise and fall with every situation because your roots are anchored in something greater than the moment.
God is faithful to sustain what He has planted.
So if today feels uncertain or stretched, remind your heart of this truth: you don’t have to chase every change or react to every season. Your strength comes from remaining rooted in Him.
In due time, fruit will come.
And the same God who planted you will continue to water what He is growing.
Reflection~
Are there areas in your life where you’ve felt tempted to give up or move before God has finished the work He started? Ask the Lord to strengthen your roots and help you remain steady where He has planted you.
Prayer~
Lord, thank You for being the source of my strength and stability. Help me remain rooted in You, even when seasons feel dry or uncertain. Strengthen my faith and remind me that You are faithfully sustaining my life.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
