FAITH FRIDAY
Be Still and Know
"When You’re Tired of Holding It All Together"
Scripture: Psalm 46:10 (KJV)
"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Sometimes, the hardest part of life isn’t what we’re facing. It’s trying to keep showing up while we’re facing it.
You keep serving.
You keep loving.
You keep showing up for your family.
You keep fulfilling responsibilities.
You keep encouraging other people.
And somewhere in the middle of being everything to everybody, you can begin to lose touch with yourself.
You may still be praying, but your mind is tired.
You may still believe God, but your heart feels heavy.
You may still be doing what you’ve been called to do, but deep down, you need to be refreshed.
And the difficult part is that life doesn’t always slow down just because you’re tired.
Responsibilities still need your attention. People still need you. Decisions still have to be made. And sometimes, you find yourself asking God for peace while trying to figure out how to fix everything around you.
But what if God isn’t asking you to figure everything out today?
What if He’s inviting you to sit with Him, breathe, and remember who He is?
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Notice that God didn’t say, “Be still when everything makes sense.”
He didn’t say, “Be still when your feelings are settled.”
He didn’t say, “Be still when everybody around you is okay.”
He simply said, “Be still.”
Stillness is learning to sit in God’s presence without feeling pressured to have an answer for everything.
It’s admitting that you’re tired without feeling guilty about it.
It’s acknowledging that some things have disappointed you without allowing disappointment to determine your future.
It’s recognizing that you cannot control every outcome, repair every situation, or carry every burden—and choosing to trust God with what belongs to Him.
And perhaps one of the most important things you can do in this season is stop expecting yourself to be strong every single moment.
Even the woman who encourages others needs encouragement.
Even the woman who prays for others needs prayer.
Even the woman who pours into others needs somewhere to be poured into.
You are not less faithful because you need rest.
You are not less spiritual because you have questions.
And you are not failing God because you’re trying to find your footing again.
Sometimes, the most faithful thing you can do is stop striving long enough to let God minister to you.
You don’t have to force yourself to feel better overnight. You don’t have to manufacture joy or pretend you’re not tired.
You can come to God just as you are.
Tired. Uncertain. Disappointed. Hopeful. Healing.
And in His presence, you can remember that your life is not held together by your ability to manage everything. God is still God, even when you don’t have the strength to hold everything together.
This Friday, give yourself permission to stop striving and start resting in the God who has never needed you to be in control for Him to remain in control.
You may not have everything figured out, but you can still be at peace with the One who does.
You don’t have to answer these questions perfectly. Just be honest with yourself and with God.
Prayer~
Father God,
Here I am, Lord, just as I am. You know the things I’ve been carrying, the thoughts I haven’t shared, the disappointments I’ve been trying to work through, and the areas of my life where I need Your peace.
Father, I’m tired of feeling like I have to hold everything together. I’m tired of trying to figure out what I cannot control. And I’m tired of moving through life without always making room for You to refresh me.
Help me to be still.
Teach me how to rest without guilt, trust You without having every answer, and release the things that were never mine to carry alone.
When my mind is overwhelmed, remind me that You are God. When my heart feels heavy, remind me that I can bring my burdens to You. When I feel disconnected, help me draw near to Your presence again.
Lord, refresh the places in me that have grown weary. Restore my peace. Renew my strength. Help me reconnect with the woman You’ve called me to be—not just the woman everyone depends on.
I don’t want to spend so much time trying to manage everything around me that I neglect what You want to do within me.
Today, I surrender the pressure to have it all together. I surrender the need to know every answer. I surrender the outcomes I cannot control.
I choose to trust You, even here. Even now. Even while I’m still figuring things out.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
