FAITH FRIDAY WITH WELLWATERED

BE STILL & KNOW

"You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out"

Scripture: Psalm 46:10 (KJV)

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Happy Faith Friday!

Last week, we began this devotional journey with a simple reminder: Sometimes the greatest act of faith is simply being still.

Today, I want us to go a little deeper.

LET’S TALK ABOUT IT…

Have you ever found yourself trying to figure everything out?

You pray about it, but then you start thinking about it again. You give it to God, but a few hours later, you pick it back up. You tell yourself you’re going to trust Him, but your mind keeps running through every possible outcome.

What if this happens? What if that doesn’t work? What am I going to do? How is this going to turn out?

Before you know it, you’re mentally exhausted from trying to solve something you don’t have the answers to yet.

And if we’re honest, sometimes we confuse worrying with being responsible. We think if we keep thinking about it, planning for it, or trying to control it, somehow we’ll be able to prevent anything from going wrong.

But beloved, there is a difference between being responsible for what God has placed in your hands and trying to control what belongs in His hands.

And sometimes, learning that difference is where our peace begins.

BE STILL DOESN’T MEAN YOU HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS.

When God tells us to be still, He isn’t telling us that our circumstances don’t matter. He’s not asking us to pretend that we aren’t concerned, that we aren’t tired, or that we don’t have questions.

He’s reminding us of who He is.

Notice that the Scripture doesn’t stop at “Be still.”

It says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”

In other words, your stillness is connected to your knowledge of Him.

When you know that He is God, you can face uncertainty without allowing uncertainty to control you.

When you know that He is God, you can acknowledge that you don’t know what tomorrow holds without feeling like you have to figure it all out today.

When you know that He is God, you can do your part, pray your prayer, take the next step, and trust Him with what happens next.

You don’t have to know how everything will work out to know that God is still God.

Some things won’t make sense right away. Some prayers will require you to wait. Some seasons will leave you with more questions than answers.

But your lack of understanding does not mean God has lost control.

Hallelujah!

HERE’S YOUR REMINDER FOR TODAY.

You can make plans without becoming consumed by the outcome.

You can pray about your children without carrying the weight of every decision they make.

You can work toward a goal without allowing fear to dictate your every move.

You can love people without trying to control their responses.

You can walk through a difficult season without demanding that God explain every detail before you trust Him.

Faith doesn’t require you to understand everything. Faith calls you to trust God even when you don’t.

So today, when your mind starts running ahead of you, pause.

Take a breath.

Remind yourself that you are not God, and you were never meant to be.

You have a responsibility to obey Him, but you can leave the outcome in His hands.

You have a responsibility to pray, but you don’t have to carry the burden as if the answer depends entirely on you.

You have a responsibility to keep moving when He directs you, but you can also recognize when it’s time to be still.

You can be at peace without having everything figured out.

That’s the beauty of knowing who your God is.

FAITH FRIDAY REFLECTION

Take a moment and ask yourself:

  1. What situation am I trying to figure out that I need to trust God with?
  1. Have I truly released it to God, or do I keep picking it back up in my thoughts?
  1. What would it look like for me to trust Him today without knowing the outcome?

Don’t rush your answers. Sit with them.

Remember, this isn’t about judging yourself for feeling worried or overwhelmed. It’s about recognizing when you’ve allowed the weight of uncertainty to steal the peace God is inviting you to experience.

LET’S PRAY.

Father God, in the name of Jesus,

Thank You for reminding us that You are God, and we are not.

Forgive us for the times we’ve allowed worry to take the place of trust. Forgive us for trying to control outcomes, figure out every detail, and carry burdens that we should have surrendered to You.

Lord, teach us how to be still.

When our minds are racing, give us peace. When we are tempted to worry about tomorrow, help us remain faithful today. When we don’t understand what You are doing, remind us of who You are.

Help us to do what You have called us to do and trust You with everything beyond our control.

We may not have all the answers, but we know You are faithful. We may not see the whole picture, but we know You are still God.

Today, we choose to release the pressure to figure everything out.

We choose to trust You in the waiting, in the uncertainty, and in the places where we don’t yet understand.

Help us be still—not because everything around us is settled, but because our confidence is in You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

YOUR FAITH FRIDAY DECLARATION

I do not have to have everything figured out to have peace. I will do my part, trust God’s heart, and leave the outcome in His hands. I will not allow uncertainty to make me forget who my God is. He is still God, He is still faithful, and I can trust Him even when I cannot see what He is doing.
