INTENTIONAL: Living Awake, Aligned, and Anchored in God
Ephesians 5:15–16 (CSB)
“Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—making the most of the time, because the days are evil.”
This scripture reveals that intentionality:
• Requires attention
• Is connected to wisdom
• Demands purposeful use of time
• Is a response to the times we are living in
Intentionality is living, choosing, and responding on purpose—in alignment with God’s will—not by accident, impulse, or convenience, but with a heart submitted to Him, aware that every action, motive, and decision is accountable before the Lord.
Intentionality is:
• Purposeful obedience
• Deliberate surrender
• Mindful stewardship of time, heart, and calling
• Choosing God’s way even when no one is watching
Intentionality is also the opposite of drifting, reacting, or moving out of emotion. It is living awake, aligned, and anchored in God.
God never called us to drift through life. Intentionality begins when we wake up—spiritually alert and aware of how we walk. Many of us love God deeply, yet unknowingly live on autopilot, letting routine, exhaustion, or emotion lead our decisions.
Scripture tells us to pay careful attention. That means slowing down long enough to ask, “Lord, am I walking wisely or just moving quickly?” Awareness is holy. It’s the moment we realize that how we live matters to God.
When we live awake, we begin to steward our time, words, and responses with wisdom. Intentional living refuses to rush past God’s voice.
Prayer~
Father God, wake me up where I’ve been drifting. I don’t want to live unaware. This year I chose to be intentional in all I do for you Lord. Teach me to walk wisely and with purpose,
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Reflection~
In what areas of my life (spiritually and physically) is God requiring me to be intentional going forward?
